Breakzy advice: Gran Canaria

tips gran canaria

Do you know that feeling when you just come back from your summer holiday and you are already dreaming of your next trip? We know how you feel! We do the same, but with a good reason: we are looking for the nicest stops in Europe. If unfortunately, you are not as lucky as we are, sit down, relax and imagine yourself on the beach with a cocktail in your hand while reading our blog of the best places to stop on Gran Canaria. We have already added more than 90 stops of Gran Canaria in our Breakzy Route planner. Little advice from us: book that holiday to this beautiful island where the sun is shining more than 320 days a year. Our suitcases are packed already!

With all the nice places you can find in Gran Canaria we barely don’t know where to start… But, as you may know getting together to eat is an important moment of the day for the Spanish people. So, let’s start with the category ‘food’.  In Gran Canaria you have, like at almost every holiday destination, the typical restaurants where the menu looks like a colouring book. A menu card with many pictures of food where, by just looking at it, you will lose your appetite. But we wouldn’t be Breakzy if we didn’t search for the best hot spots. The restaurants below are located in different areas of the island, so wherever you are: a good place is always close to you. Taste Mesón is located in Arguineguin, west of Playa del Ingles and gives you a spectacular panoramic view over the Atlantic Ocean. Do you need more for the perfect holiday feeling?

In the way of entertainment, you really do not get bored in Gran Canaria. There are plenty of activities for all ages. Often these places can be reached by a public bus, but with a rental car you will get there even more fast and easy. The most famous amusement parks of Gran Canaria are Aqualand and Palmitos park. But if you really want to do something special: do the excursion with a Submarine that will bring you to the beautiful underwater world, you will definitely spot a lot of fish! Golf lovers can eat their heart out. Gran Canaria has 7 (!) golf courses, one even more beautiful and green then the other. Looking for Thalasso’s (wellness) lounge bars, special shops or shopping centres? With more than 40 ‘amusement’ stops in the route planner you will certainly not get bored!

Tip from Breakzy: if you buy a combination ticket of Palmitos Park and Aqualand you will get a discount, which makes it cheaper to visit both parks. You can easily purchase an entrance ticket via the website.

Europe has so many beautiful places you must have visited once. Not only the mainland of Spain but also Gran Canaria has breath taking places to see. Gran Canaria is, like the other Canary Islands, a Volcanic island. The entire middle of the island consists of mountains, through these undeveloped mountains are roads that lead you to the most beautiful places. One of these places is Caldera de Bandama, a ‘dead’ volcano located in the East of the island. Pico de las Nieves is the highest point of the island (1949 meters), from here you can see the entire crater (Caldera de Bandama) and the surrounding of it. In the capital, Las Palmas, you will find old monumental buildings that tell the history of Gran Canaria. An example of this is La Catedral de Santa Ana, the oldest church on the entire island. Discover our cultural stops in the route planner because Gran Canaria is so much more than just beaches.

There are plenty of beaches on Gran Canaria, pretty logical of course since it is an island but there is quite a difference between all the beaches. Of course, you can visit one of the most popular beaches of Gran Canaria: Playa del Ingles, but there are really so much nicer beaches than the ‘’English part’’.
To get you in the beach mood we have added the best beaches of Gran Canaria to our route planner.  Anfi del Mar, a white sanded beach with crystal clear water, located to the West of Playa del Ingles is one of them. From Playa del Ingles many busses depart to Anfi del Mar and the busses stop right in front of the beach. From the bus stop you have to walk a short distance and take the elevator to go down to this little paradise. Just a few minutes later you can forget all your worries, catch a wave, work on your tan, read a good book in the shade of a palm tree and bury your feet in the warm sand. Your holiday has started!

Of course, we couldn’t have found all these hot spots without our travel planner on location. She is finding for us all the places that are not discovered by the tourists yet. Also found a nice stop? With the Breakzy app (Android) you can easily add it to our route planner. In this way you contribute to our concept ‘for travellers, by travellers’. The app will soon be available for iPhone but until then you can simply use the route planner on the website!
